“The best defence against disease is a strong immune system. Although there are not any specific miraculous natural substances to destroy the coronavirus, we have a number of non-specifically beneficial foods and nutrients that support the immune system. We know that immunity is non-specifically supported by:
- herbal substances with antibiotic, antioxidant or anti-inflammatory effects (e.g. garlic, onion, turmeric, ginger, manuka honey, propolis, echinacea, omega-3 fish fats, medicinal mushrooms such as reishi, oyster mushroom or shiitake)
- regular consumption of fermented vegetables that strengthen the intestinal microbiome: sauerkraut, kimchi
- vitamin C in vegetables and fruits, as well as magnesium, selenium, iron, copper, folic acid, polyphenols and vitamins A, E, B2, B6 and B12 (found in berries, citrus fruits, cabbage, onions, garlic, spinach, carrots, offal and eggs). “How to live with viruses” (PharmDr. Margit Slimáková)
